A bit of a struggle for Maria in order to reach the 4th round in Indian Wells.
Sharapova had to face the tenacious world no.21 Suarez Navarro that offered a lot of opposition. Finally Maria won in straight sets after 1 hour and 40 minutes to comment
“That was a tough match. She is a quality player and she’s capable of playing really good tennis.
“She’s dangerous. She’s beaten top players in grand slams before. She has a really solid game, a lot of variety, but she can hit the ball, as well. I certainly had some trouble today.”
In the next round Maria will play another Spaniard, Lara Arruabarrena-Vecino, that upset Roberta Vinci 2-6 6-4 6-4.
