Djokovic beats Dimitrov to reach the quarters in Indian Wells

Nole had once again a very solid performance especially from a mental point of view.

Grigor Dimitrov had a very good start to lead 5-2 in the opening set, but the Bulgarian was not able to wrap up the set as Nole was holding tough (Nole’s style). So Djokovic managed to break back in the ninth game (Grigor double faulted 4 times!) to bring the opener to the tiebreak when Dimitrov melted down. From that moment it was game over. Nole won a very comfortable tiebreak at 4 to then win the next set 6-1.

From Nole

“I tried to hang in there and stay in the match,” said Djokovic “I started very bad, very poor. He served very well but he made four double faults at 5-3 and got me back into the match. He made a lot of unforced errors and I just had to get the ball back in the court.”

Next vs Querrey

The world no.1 will play Sam Querrey in the quarters. Head to head is 4-1 for Nole, but Querrey won the last one in Bercy 2012 0-6 7-6(5) 6-4.
