Tsonga beats Raonic to reach the quarters in Indian Wells

Another good win for the Frenchman that managed to cope with a Raonic serving at his best. The Canadian blasted 12 aces on 16 service games to win 79% points on his first serve (70% in) and 67% on the second.

The match was a close encounter. Jo won only 1 point more than Raonic (86 vs 85) to be super effective in defending his break points (he saved 4 out of 5).

From Tsonga

“It was tough,” said Jo. “He started the match well. He was serving unbelievable, but I stayed in. I fought a lot and tried to get into a good rhythm to return his serve. Then when I found it, I just played well.”

From Raonic

“It’s not a great feeling right now,” said Milos . “I sort of had my foot on the pedal and I just let off. It’s dangerous, especially against any guy in this group. Obviously the Top 4 will make you pay for it much more, but any guy after that I think it’s a really tight group that everybody will make you pay.”

In the next match Tsonga will play either Djokovic or Querrey.
