Tomic back to Davis Cup to play against Uzbekistan

It has been a short exile… but that was probably a good one.

After a disastrous 2012, Tomic was also kicked out the Davis Cup team in December for disciplinary reasons. That ignited something in the young Aussie that understood that sooner or later he had to grow and live up to expectations.

In January Bernard proved all his value to defeated (a very tired) Djokovic at the Hopman Cup, win the ATP tournament in Sydney and have a couple of good rounds in Melbourne.

These results couple with a much improved behaviour made Pat Rafter to ask Bernard to get back to the Davis Cup in April. Tomic accepted and… here we are… after Miami he will play for his country against Uzbekistan.

From Tomic

“The Davis Cup is going to be held after Miami,” Tomic said. “We’re going to train in Munich when everyone’s done here and then play against Uzbekistan.

“It’s not going to be a pretty place but I’m looking forward to it. We have got a good team now. I think we should win and Davis Cup is back on the roll for me and I’m going to try my heart out when it comes.”

About the Davis Cup

“It was always a dream for me to play Davis Cup at a young age and you want to represent your country whenever you can and to get the opportunity back is huge and I’m really looking forward to it.” added the Australian.

The tie will take place the 6-8 of April in Namangan  and the winner will get a spot in the September’s World Group playoffs. Australian was out of the World Group for 3 years… they deserve more than that!
