Monaco to play Isner in Houston semifinal

Juan Monaco is trying to fight back. After an horrendous start of the season when he couldn’t win a single match, the Argentine is back on track to play the American no.2 in Houston Semifinal.

Monaco – Ginepri

It took only 56 minutes for Pico to defeat Ginepri (world no. 283).

“From the beginning, I had a good feeling. I was serving well,” commented the Argentine. “Every game I got more confident. I played very well. Maybe it Robby didn’t have a good day. I have great memories on this court.

Next vs. Isner

Pico will play Isner in the semi. The American defeated Berankis 6-3 3-6 6-3 in 83 minutes blasting a whopping 19 aces on 14 service games (no bad on clay!). Big Johny dropped only 5 points out of 48 on his first serve.

“John is a great player. I’ll have to play like today or even better tomorrow if I want to beat him. I have to be focused. When I get the opportunity, I can’t miss it. I have to be ready.” said Monaco

Head to head is 2-1 for Isner, 1-0 for Monaco on clay… and that match was last year’s final when Monaco won 6-2 3-6 6-3
