A wonderful Federer beats a tremendous Janowicz in Rome

What a wonderful match! Definitely one of the best of the season.

Roger is playing a really magnificent tennis. He seems almost annoyed by his start of the season to do everything he can to bring some results. Janowicz has been on fire for the entire tournament to beat two top 10 players (Tsonga and Gasquet) in the previous rounds.

It didn’t look like a clay court match as both players were just going for the kill in every points. The difference between the two was that Roger was pushing using his experience while Janowicz was at time too excited.

The first set was a close encounter with Janowicz playing a fastastic tennis blasting everything he could at the Maestro. The Pole had a low moment just at the end of the set to be broken just in the 10th game.

In the second set the Pole got an early break in the first game to go and serve for the set, go to the tiebreak and win the match.

There is not much to say, Janowicz demostrated he has the weapons to play the very best…and Roger is playing at his very Best.

From Roger

“I knew it wasn’t going to be another 6-1, 6-2 victory like the first two. Those who thought that was going to be the case don’t know anything about tennis,” said Roger Federer.

“It was a tough match. Janowicz showed some great tennis. I think he’s very talented and has clearly proved that in the past. Coming here, in front of a full stadium, he had nothing to lose.

The way he came out and played I thought was impressive. He had break points early in the first set. He swung and hit everything to get the break in the second set. He should have got the set. Clearly, I can be very happy to win in straight sets tonight.”

Semifinal vs. Paire

Reoger will playa surprising Paire in the smeifinal as the Frenchdestroyed Granollers 6-1 6-0. Head to head 2-0 for Roger that has never conceded a set to the Frenchman.
