Roger to try to get back on track in Gstaad

This has been not a good season so far for Roger.

The former world no.1 went down to the 5th position in the ATP Rankings after a series of very disappointing losses. Recently Roger lost the last 2 matches against a couple of players ranked at that time outside the top 100! (Sergiy Stakhovsky and Federico Delbonis)… and that doesn’t help to boost the confidence.

Roger is trying to get back to basic to play this 250 ATP tournament in Switzerland to aim at winning his second title of the season. The top seeds are Federer, Wawrinka, Tipsarevic, Monaco, Lopez, Youzhny, Rosol and Bautista-Agut.

Roger: tricky season

“I feel okay. It’s been a tricky season, to say the least.” Said Federer

“Clearly I’ve been asking myself questions of how can I get out of, I wouldn’t call it a slump because I did win Halle in between, and I know that the game’s just around the corner,” he said. “It’s just important that I take the right decisions, how to move forward from here and then how I bounce back, because usually when things don’t go so well I find a way, and that’s what I’m looking for right now.”

Maintain the rankings

Talking about his rankings Roger said “Right now it’s important for me to maintain my ranking, and eventually hopefully when I win big tournaments again or more tournaments, then I can move up again. Right now, I just need to first make sure that I’m healthy, that I do all the right things in practice and then that I can attack again in the matches.”
