DOMESTIC VIOLENCE. The ATP releases a statement after Zverev was accused by former girlfriend

This the ATP statement after Sascha Zverev's got in trouble after being accused of domestic violence

Alex Zverev And Olya Sharypova

Alexander Zverev is about to start his campaign at the ATP Finals, but it seems he has been struggling more and more to shrug off the “bad publicity” he got after beating accused of domestic violence.

The German ace was publicly accused by his ex-girlfriend Olya Sharypova of domestic violence. The allegations have to be verified and Zverev denied any wrongdoing. However, according to many, Olya’s story is rather convincing and therefore, Sascha’s image had a rather nasty blow. The German should renew his contract with Adidas by the end of the year and his bargain power has definitely diminished after the recent allegations.

In the press-conference that anticipated the ATP Finals, Sascha confirmed he has done nothing wrong, but apparently, he did it after reading a written communication prepared by his PR company (to be confirmed).

Many have criticized the ATP for taking no action and even not acknowledging the situation. Eventually, they released the following statement:

ATP STATEMENT ON DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AND ABUSE

The ATP fully condemns any form of violence or abuse. We expect all members of the Tour to do the same, and to refrain from any conduct that is violent, abusive, or puts others at risk.

In circumstances where allegations of violence or abuse are made against any member of the Tour, legal authorities investigate and due process is applied, we then review the outcome and decide the appropriate course of action. Otherwise, we are unable to comment further on specific allegations.”

The statement sounds rather lame, but what else?
