Ana and Sabine had a smooth kick start of the tournament defeating their opponent in straight sets.
It took only 62 minutes for Ana Ivanovic to defeat home favorite Andrea Petkovic. The Serb blasted 6 aces in 9 service games to break Andrea 4 times and drop the service only once. Ana will play Nadia Petrova in the second round. The Russian defeated Pfizenmaier 7-6 (2) 6-4.
The Germans lost Andrea Petkovic, but they “retained” Sabine Lisicki. The German player had an easy win against the Italian qualifier Nastassja Burnett 6-3 6-4. in 1 hour and 24minutes.
Sabine will play either Jelena Jankovic or Sam Stosur in the 2nd round
