Sascha Zverev has been going through quite a storm in the last eighteen months. After winning the ATP Finals, he has been a part of many controversies. He had made a headline when he participated in the ill-fated Adria Tour during the pandemic with Novak Djokovic, Dominic Thiem, Grigor Dimitrov, and later was also seen in a party which did not follow quarantine rules. He had gone on the tour along with his then-girlfriend model Brenda Patea.

Brenda revealed that she is pregnant

Brenda has recently revealed that she was 20 weeks along in her pregnancy. “I’m 20 weeks pregnant and I am expecting a child from Alex”. The German model said she has had no contact with Sascha currently and does not plan to share custody with the German tennis superstar. “That is out of the question for me,” she added further.

Brenda admitted that she was in a good enough position in her life to raising the child by herself. “The child was not planned, but I will do everything to ensure that it grows up in a harmonious environment. I am in the fortunate position of being able to raise the child by myself,” she added.

Brenda and Sascha were in a relationship for a year, before calling it quits in August. The model said she and Sascha wanted different things from their lives. “There was a crisis before because we have different views on life. Anyone who lives by the side of an athlete has to submit.”

According to the dates of pregnancy announced by Sascha’s former girlfriend, it is estimated that she got pregnant during the Adria Tour. The tour was held during the corona outbreak from 13th June to 5th July. The tour got criticized because of the lack of precautions to control the spread of coronavirus.

Sascha had to apologize for being a part of the event because four players had got infected due to the virus. He had said that it was extremely unfortunate and unreliable of us to do so.

A controversial tournament

The event had a kids’ day as well with 5,000 children taking part and a stadium filled with people without masks who weren’t observing social distancing guidelines either. The German player agreed that it wasn’t the “smartest thing” to do.

He admitted that playing in front of a full audience and the tour was a mistake. He also apologized for the kids’ day with 5000 children.

After the Adria Tour, Sascha had pledged to stay quarantined. But after a few days, he was seen at a birthday party for which he faced a lot of criticism. In light of this, he canceled his start at an invitation tournament in Berlin. “That was after the Adria Tour, and my manager told me: you’d better stay home,” he said.

All the players including him and Novak Djokovic, Dominic Thiem, Grigor Dimitrov were heavily criticized on social media for their reckless behavior.

Since tennis has now returned, Sascha will want to improve his performance. He lost to former World Andy Murray. For the past few years, Murray has been dealing with injuries and hence, Sascha was the favorite going into the tie.

Given that he reached his first Grand Slam semifinal at the Australian Open this year, he would have hoped for a better restart to the season. This loss gives him extra days to prepare for the US Open and gives him the chance to come back stronger.
