Serena Williams was more than eager to finally try to win her 24th slam at the French Open, but she had to pull the plug before playing the 2nd round because of her hamstring injury. The American sensation didn’t sound very confident about her condition before playing her 1st round to look quite dejected in the press conference that preceded her math vs. Ahn.
This is an acute injury
Eventually, Serena had to withdraw from the French Open as she admitted that the injury is quite serious. Probably her season is over. She commented:
“I think I need four to six weeks of sitting and doing nothing and at least just two weeks of sitting down. After those two weeks, I’ve been told I need to do a little training. I don’t know if I’ll be able to play another tournament this year
I feel like my body is willing, this is not a nagging injury, this is an acute injury. I feel my body is actually doing really well and I just ran into bad timing and bad luck really in New York.”
