AMERICAN DEBACLE. Gauff, Venus Williams, Anisimova, Kenin all out from Rome

American players are usually not well-known for enjoying too much playing on the red clay, but in Rome things got really ugly. There is no American player in the 3rd round of the WTA draw even if 7 players from the US were in the main draw. Cori Gauff, Venus Williams, Amanda Anisimova and Sofia Kenin were also expected to go deeper that the 2nd round, but they couldn’t make it. The Australian Open champion, Sofia Kenin, was also humiliated by Vika Azarenka after losing 6-0 6-0.

Sofia Kenin, Amanda Anisimova, Sloane Stephens, Lauren Davis, and Bernarda Pera are all in the entry list in Strasbourg next week hoping to have a decent run ahead of the French Open. Serena Williams is currently fine-tuning her preparation for the Roland Garros in the South of France with her coach Patrick Mouratoglou. She decided not to play any warm-up tournament ahead of her French Open also because she has been struggling with a problem to her Achilles.
