At 16 years of age, Coco is more than eager to get back to competitions after she played her last match at the Australian Open more than 6 months ago.
Currently coached by her father and Serena Williams’ coach Patrick Mouratoglou. Coco had a superb 2019 with a 29-15 win-loss record that was more than remarkable for a person of her age. Last year she conquered her maiden title in Linz and she reached the second week already in Wimbledon and at the Australian Open.
Coco Gauff in Lexington
Coco is already in Lexington where she has expressed her excitement for finally being on the road after so many months. In Kentucky, she will have the opportunity to challenge some other top players, among them her childhood idols Serena and Venus. It’s also remarkable that Coco a positive 2-0 record against Venus after she beat her in both Wimbledon 2019 and at the Australian Open this year.
Even if in Melbourne she lost in the 4th round, it is worth mentioning that Gauff has beaten in straight sets multiple slam champions such as Venus and Naomi Osaka (that was also the defending champion). In addition, Coco lost to the “will-be” Australian Open champion Sofia Kenin after she won the first ser.

Cori Gauff in 2020
Currently ranked no.52, Cori played her last match on the 26th of January when she was defeated by Sofia Kenin 6-75 6-3 6-0 in the 4th round of the Australian Open.
Venus Williams in 2020
Ranked no.67, Venus played her last match on the 2nd of March when she was defeated by Karolina Anna Schmiedlova 4-6 6-3 6-2 in the 1st round in Monterrey.
Cori Gauff and Venus Williams played each other twice. The head to head is 2-0 for Gauff. The last time that they competed against each other, Cori Gauff won 7-65 6-3 in the 1st round in Melbourne (Australian Open) on the 20th of January 2020.

Now the world no.9, the American played her last match on the 8th of February when she surrendered to Anastasija Sevastova 7-65 3-6 7-64 in the Rubber 4 of the Fed Cup.
At present, this year Serena has a 8-2 win-loss record. Serena Williams conquered 1 title in Auckland.
