Coco Gauff Ready To Play In Lexington

At 16 years of age, Coco is more than eager to get back to competitions after she played her last match at the Australian Open more than 6 months ago.

Currently coached by her father and Serena Williams’ coach Patrick Mouratoglou. Coco had a superb 2019 with a 29-15 win-loss record that was more than remarkable for a person of her age. Last year she conquered her maiden title in Linz and she reached the second week already in Wimbledon and at the Australian Open.

Coco is already in Lexington where she has expressed her excitement for finally being on the road after so many months. In Kentucky, she will have the opportunity to challenge some other top players, among them her childhood idols Serena and Venus. It’s also remarkable that Coco a positive 2-0 record against Venus after she beat her in both Wimbledon 2019 and at the Australian Open this year.

Even if in Melbourne she lost in the 4th round, it is worth mentioning that Gauff has beaten in straight sets multiple slam champions such as Venus and Naomi Osaka (that was also the defending champion). In addition, Coco lost to the “will-be” Australian Open champion Sofia Kenin after she won the first ser.
