Serena Williams’s coach defends Djokovic

Djokovic Mouratoglou

Serena Williams’ coach Patrick Mouratoglou is a strong advocate of trying new things. For this reason, Patrick defended Novak Djokovic for organizing the Adria Tour that unfortunately went south because of the Coronavirus pandemic. After the tour was canceled, Novak was unfairly labeled by the media as the only culprit for the outcome of the event.

During a long video with UbiTennis, Patrick admitted that Novak did a mistake in how the tour was organized because being such a champion he needs always to lead by examples. The Frenchman also conceded that it was easy to commit that mistake as life in Europe is almost normal right now.

“Here in Europe life takes place normally, now. People go to restaurants, have fun, go dancing. But when you’re a superstar, you organize an event and you’re on TV, you have to be an example,” he commented.

However, later Mouratoglou stressed the fact that it’s normal to make mistakes especially when you are so motivated and inspired about doing things. The Frenchman didn’t like also the fact that most of the critics came from social media.

“I think Djokovic’s was a mistake but it’s okay, everyone makes mistakes. Easy not to make mistakes and criticize sitting on the sofa,” he added.
