At almost 39 years of age, it’s quite reasonable for a tennis player to have retired. That is not the case of Roger Federer that despite the fact that he had 2 procedures to his right knee, he is still convinced he can play for the big titles.

The Swiss sensation was “blessed” by the fact that the Coronavirus pandemic halted tennis and de facto frozen the rankings (a new 22-month system has been adopted).

During a recent interview with the Time, Roger revealed that he is still extremely positive about is chances to win something important when he is going to be back.

“I’m still very eager, very happy, very motivated. But I feel like I need to be able to compete with the best, that I can still win big tournaments. Like last year at Wimbledon, I was so close. I need those moments”

Of course, Roger admits that at the end of the day he needs to test his fitness and tennis with real-life, and results will be the ones to “decide” if he can make it or not.

“If I start losing the second round every week, obviously I know my time has come up,” he added.
