It’s finally confirmed that the Roland Garros will be staged in 2020. The slam was postponed because of the Coronavirus pandemic in September. However, given the overall uncertainty, it was unclear if there were the conditions for the major to be played anyway.

The Tennis French Federation, announced that they have been working on many hypotheses for the slam to take place. However, during a recent discussion on Twitch with Gael Monfils, Bernard Giudicelli, the president of the Tennis French Federation confirmed that the slam will be played.

“Yes I confirm you, Gael, the Roland Garros will take place. The preferred option is to have a Roland Garros with maximum number of spectators. Depending on health conditions, we will adapt to the directives the government gives us. The government will decide how many people can be there,” said Giudicelli.

Gael didn’t miss the opportunity to confirm his commitment to try to win the competition. However, do that, he needs to overcome a rather big obstacle: Rafael Nadal. The Spaniard has won 12 Roland Garros titles and at 34 yers of age, he is still considered as the favorite to win another one this year.

“I will try to win it, you know Bernard. But there is always someone who wins the Roland-Garros. He has been owning the Roland-Garros for 12 years before me,” Gael commented referring to the Spaniard.
