Roger Federer is still recovering from his knee operation and, like many of us, he hopes that pro-tennis will be back soon, safe and with fans.
Unfortunately, we all know that there is the concrete possibility of having some tournaments to be played without fans in order to avoid the Coronavirus do be spread. This is a possibility, and no one is happy about that. However, what else?
Federer and playing without fans
During a chat with Guga Kuerten, the Swiss legend commented:
“I don’t see myself playing without an audience in the stands, I can’t imagine it and I hope this never happens. Although we train without people around, competing is not the same.
It is clear that it is a real possibility but personally I would wait a little longer and be able to return in better conditions, with a third or half of the public present in the stands.
It would really be very hard for me to be in big stadiums and not have the heat of the stands.”
While no one likes playing without people in the stands, this would be extremely detrimental for Federer that is arguably the most loved tennis player on the planet. The crowd loves seeing the world no.4 competing and not having the big push from the fans would be a great blow for Federer.

During the chat with Kuerten, Roger admitted that he has always considered Guga as one of his favorite players. He also thanked the Brazilian for being one of the players that made him feel comfortable when he arrived in the circuit.

Currently ranked no.4, the Swiss played his last match on the 30th of January when he was defeated by Novak Djokovic 7-61 6-4 6-3 in the semifinal of the Australian Open.
