Coco Gauff, Sofia Kenin join Kerber and Goerges to play the inaugural event on grass in Berlin

Cori Gauff and Sofia Kenin are among the most interesting prospects of American tennis and both agreed to play the inaugural event on grass in Berlin. The tournament will be held at the Rot-Weiss Tennis Club between June 13-21 and it is going to be one of the Wimbledon warm-up events.

The tournament director Barbara Rittner commented, “[Coco’s] potential is huge and I’m sure that she will become a world-class player. She is so talented that I am confident she might be able to bring in a new era in women’s tennis. Watching her here in Berlin will give fans an idea of what I’m talking about.”

Gauff was also elated with the opportunity to play and visit Berlin to comment: “I have heard a lot of cool things about the city and I’m very excited about what will await me there. Being played just before Wimbledon, this tournament is very important to me.”
