Nick Kyrgios had another weird, but this time unsuccessful, experience in Acapulco. Last year, he won the title in Mexico after beating Rafael Nadal in a rather controversial match. Later in the tournament, Nick kept on fighting with the fans and Sascha Zverev had to “defend” him during his runner-up speech. This year, things went south immediately as he withdrew in the first round against (a good) Hugo Humbert because of a problem to his left wrist. Kyrgios withdrew after losing the opening set 6-3.
Nick was heavily booed when he left the court even if he tried his best. That was unfair but is rather normal as he is a rather polarizing figure. When asked about his feeling about being booed, he replied straight away: “I don’t give a f**k.”
Defending Acapulco champ Nick Kyrgios tried to play through injury today.
Then when he couldn’t and was forced to stop the match, he was booed off the court.
This did not thrill him.
