Kim Clijsters will be making his much-anticipated return to playing professional tennis during the upcoming Dubai Duty Free Tennis Championships. Besides, she will be playing in Dubai for the first time; hence it is a tournament that will mean a lot to her. Kim will be competing against some great tennis players like Bianca Andreescu, Karolina Pliskova, Belinda Bencic, Elina Svitolina, Simona Halep, and Sofia Kenin. Unfortunately for Ashleigh Barty, she will not be taking part in this showpiece due to a right foot injury.

Ahead of her return to the tennis court, Kim Clijsters was very much excited about making this decision. Besides, she thanked everyone who has been encouraging and supporting her all through. She is now eagerly waiting to hold the racquet again in front of many tennis fans with Dubai set to be her starting point.

A second return to Tennis for Kim Clijsters

Kim Clijsters boosts of an exceptional record in not only playing tennis but also retiring from the sport altogether. The 36-year-old is among only six women to ever top both the singles and doubles world rankings. She has won four singles grand slam titles made up three US open and one Australian Open title. Furthermore, the Belgian has two doubles titles- the 2003 Wimbledon and French Open. Last but not least, Clijsters has won a total of three WTA Finals singles tournaments.

This will be the second time she will be coming out of retirement to grace her favorite sport once again. The Belgian first retired from playing tennis in 2007, to start a family. The current mother of three children came back stronger in 2009 and had a very fantastic performance before retiring again in 2012. She won the US Open in her third tournament after making a return to tennis. The victory made her the first mother to clinch a grand slam matching a feat that had been set by Evonne Goolagong in 1980 at Wimbledon.

Kim Clijsters has been putting in more work ahead of her Tennis return

The former world number has been training pretty much ahead of her comeback to professional tennis. Recently she was spotted training with the Belgian Fed Cup team. Kim Clijsters confirmed training with her home country tennis team through her Instagram account. She shared several images on her Instagram with the Belgium team. The training session also gave her a chance to meet some great talent.
