Wozniacki accused of being racist for imitating Serena Williams

Is Caroline racist? No she is not! She has just performed a very unfortunate imitation of Serena and some people has (wrongly) considered it an act of racism.

What happened?

You know… during exhibition tennis players are expected not to win, but to act as jokingly (sometimes stupidly) as possible and “tacky” imitations are always expected.

During the exhibition in Sao Paolo (the Gillette or Federer Tour as you want to call it) Caroline imitated Serena by stuffing her chest and skirt with padding… and you know… for the chest is ok (even a compliment)… for the skirt it is not! Actually it is not really nice to joke about a woman’s big “lower back” in front thousand of people (not to mention he media).

The problem was that Caroline performed this imitation for the second time, but in Sao Paolo the media coverage was pretty big.

The Controversy

This unfortunate imitation stirred quite a big mess as some labeled Caroline as racist as the Dane was making fun of the body of a black person (nonsense… but you can expect this kind of comments).

Maybe the worst part of it is to make fun of a colleague for a part of the body that can be seen as a “weakness”.

One blogger went over board to comment “out and outright racism. mocking and making fun of the bodies of black women for a laugh? real funny, stupid white girl. real real funny and not just as a ‘harmless fun’ as one article described.”

The Solution?

Caroline next time please perform an imitation of Sharapova, wear high heels, bounce the ball with soft hands and scream as loud as you can… that would be a safe bet!

ah… and ops… a lesson of diplomacy from Roger will also help… 😉

Here another imitation from Caroline
