Roger Federer is about to face Tennys Sandgren for the first time in his career in the quarterfinal of the Australian Open. The Swiss came through from a couple of interesting matches in the previous 2 rounds. In the 3rd, he survived John Millman in a thrilling match while in the following contest, he recovered from 1 set-down against Marton Fucsovic.
When asked about his upcoming opponent, Roger commented: “I wonder why he’s not ranked higher, to be honest. Every time I see him play, I feel like he plays very well. He’s got a lot of stuff in his game that he’s deserving of being higher.
I’m looking forward to that match because I have seen him play a lot but never played him. It was impressive how he was competing and I’m looking forward to a tough one.”

Then Roger added: “I like how he moves. Very explosive. He has a nice first serve as well. He can counter-punch, but also likes to go on the attack. It reminds me a little bit of the olden days, when you would do the transition game very good and very quickly. I feel like that’s what I’ve seen a lot of him doing very well.”
