Nicholas Jarry and Robert Farah both earned an unexpected provisional suspension from the ATP tours. The tennis players tested positive for some prohibited drugs that contributed to such a punishment from the ITF. The news comes as a surprise to many tennis enthusiasts who did not expect these reputable tennis players to be found in such a saga. But for ITF, it is considered as a commitment towards getting rid of the doping vice from the tennis sport.

ITF’s statement

The ITF first released a statement concerning Nicholas Jarry’s fate in relation to his doping case. The authority confirmed that the current world number 78 failed a drug test. The test revealed that he had used two banned substances known as stanozolol metabolite and Ligandrol metabolite during the Davis Cup in November 2019.

Regardless of the fact that he participated in Adelaide’s qualifications event, he is now bound to miss the Australian Open. He hopes to rebuild his reputation by proving that he never used prohibited substances intentionally.

“I want to clarify that I have never intentionally or consciously taken any prohibited substance in my career as a tennis player and, in fact, I completely oppose doping. Therefore, these next days and weeks, I will devote all my time and push to find out where these substances come from so that my legal team and I can fully clarify this situation,” he said.

Robert Farah’s sheds more light on his unexpected suspension

Robert Farah is another tennis player who will be hoping to clear his name following a failed drug test. The US and Wimbledon doubles champion tested positive for Boldenone, which is usually present in contaminated meat.

“As the Colombian Olympic Committee stated in 2018, this substance is frequently found in Colombian meat and can affect the results of the tests to athletes, “he tweeted.

Before the statement by ITF, Robert Farah had opted out of the Australian Open. The news came as a surprise to many tennis fans, who believed that there something more than mere personal issues that prompted him to withdraw from the tournament. Nevertheless, he took to Twitter to clear the air on regarding what caused his unexpected withdrawal.

“I will not be able to play at the Australian Open, an event for which I had been preparing since December. A few hours ago, the ITF informed me of the presence of Boldenona in a test that I did on October 17, 2019, in Cali,” he tweeted.
