The 2020 tennis season is already underway. Like preceding years, the season kicked off with the ATP Cup tournament in Australia. This tournament acts as a curtain-raiser for the much anticipated Australian Open. Meanwhile, before featuring in the year’s first Grand Slam, Stefanos Tsitsipas and some other big names decided to feature in the Kooyong Classic, let’s see why.

A lot, if not all, tennis players are earnestly preparing for this magnificent showpiece set to take place in Australia. In fact, a section of tennis players is aiming to capitalize on any upcoming tournaments or tennis outings just to prepare pretty well for the Australian Open. One even that seems to attract a number of these players in the Kooyong Classic. It is set to take place from 14th to 16th January 2020 at the Kooyong Stadium in Melbourne, Australia. This event is regarded as a significant premier lead up to the Australian Open.

The event has already captured the attention of several tennis players who consider it an ideal warm-up towards the Australian Open. Some of the expected participants include Stefanos Tsitsipas, Borna Coric, Soonwoo Kwon, Marin Cilic, Milos Raonic, Grigor Dimitrov, and Nick Kyrgios.

The director of the Kooyong Classic, Peter Jonhston, believes this tournament will give some tennis players a significant amount of match play. He then confirmed that  Stefanos Tsitsipas is bound to feature in this event.

“We had saved a little bit of room for last-minute inclusions, but not much, and our field is amazing. I know Tsitsipas and a few others are considering it and are assessing their plans, and we are just waiting to see if Kooyong works for them,” he said.

The Women’s Lineup

The women will also be part of this lead-up tournament. Female tennis players such as Ajla Tomljanovic, Caroline Wozniacki, Maria Sharapova, and Coco Vandeweghe will be participating in this competition.

Kooyong Classic will also be used as an event to show support for the fire ravage communities in Australia. As a result, AgBioEn, the tournament’s sponsor, has pledged to donate $10,000 to help those affected by the recent bushfire catastrophe. Besides, Lubey Lozevski, AgBioEn’s director promise that the event will be completely carbon neutral.

The tournament will also witness the use of Point Bank,a very reliable core monitoring system. Point Bank enhances the interest in every point without compromising the basics of tennis.
