A wager worth, a staggering 1 Billion pounds according to the television personality Piers Morgan. While hosting a show on the Good Morning talk Shaw alongside co-host Susanna Reid, Morgan made the bold remarks that he would quite confidently place a wager that tennis superstar Roger Federer would comprehensively beat his women’s tennis Superstar companion, Serena Williams.
The remarks came as he was speaking about the standards of men’s football as compared to that of the ladies. Even though he acknowledged the impressively high caliber tennis player Serena is, he stated that the Swiss Maestro would obliterate her by a score of 6-0,6-0. “Roger Federer would beat Serena Williams 6-0,6-0. We know that…” he said.
Piers Morgan’s stance
Prompted by Reid’s, his co-host, visibly disapproving expression, Morgan pressed alluding to the fact that Reid was unwilling to match the wager. She opposed Morgan’s sentiments that Federer would get an easy and straight sets win over Serena. Besides Reid pointed out that she would not be able to raise that amount of money.
Roger Federer and Serena Williams have enjoyed enormous amounts of success over the period of their respective careers and they still continue to show a significant level of dominating presence in todays tennis courts. They have both attracted a colossal population of adoring followers around the world. Bringing competitive passion and athleticism, they have inspired millions from far reaches of the world. It is therefore no big surprise to here of a high-profile heated debate on national television, involving the two. In this case, Piers Morgan made it undoubtedly clear of his opinion on who would emerge the undoubted victor.

Members of the panel at the show argued while expressing the fact that the match-up was yet to take place and therefore there was no definite way of determining his views. Morgan responded to this by citing an example in which the Australian women’s team were handed a humiliating defeat by a resounding score of 7-0. “The Australian Team (women) were number five in the world and two years ago got beaten by an under-15 boys’ amateur team…”Morgan Said.
