Matteo Berrettini and Ajla Tomljanovic are an item for the last few months. The Italian and the Croatian-born Australian seem to be inseparable. Ajla was with him in Vienna a few weeks ago before heading to the other part of the world to play the Fed Cup Final in Perth.
Things didn’t go well in Australia for Ajla as her team lost at the decisive doubles on Sunday. However, she didn’t miss the chance to get back as soon as possible to Europe to cheer for her boyfriend, and she was in Matteo’s box already on Tuesday during his match against Federer.
Why Berrettini was attracted by Ajla
During a recent interview with the Italian newspaper, il Corriere Della Sera, Matteo explained why he started to date the Ajla to reveal:
“First of all I liked her physically: I thought I was attracted by blondes; instead I find myself with a brunette. Ajla has a good soul; I would even say pure, and that I had to find out step by step. Because of her education and culture, she was difficult to reach. And what I found struck me.”
Matteo was also happy with the fact that his girlfriend decided to support him in London and the fact that they understand each other to comment:
We understand each other. On Tuesday she will land here in London, she came to Vienna: she understands my timing, she does not bother me, she knows that when I am not with her I am busy doing what a tennis player needs to do.”

This year Berrettini has a 46-23 win-loss record. Berrettini clinched 3 titles in 2019 in the Phoenix Challenger, in Budapest and in Stuttgart. The Italian was the finalist in Munich.

Ranked no.51, the Croatian played her last match on tour the 15th of October when she had to bow to Varvara Gracheva 6-3 6-2 in the 1st round in Moscow.
