Jannik Sinner has impressed tennis pundits with his game. Many have speculated that the young Italian could be a perennial Grand Slam champion in the future. He is the latest player to show much promise from his country after the emergence of Matteo Berrettini and Fabio Fognini. Jannik has had an interesting path to the top of the game since he took up the sport.

Sinner’s mother, father, and brother

The Italian was born on 16th August 2001 to his mother Singlinde and father Johann in San Candido Italy. He has a brother named Marc. Jannik started playing tennis when he was 7-years old. However, between ages 8-12 years, he took up skiing. The sport is popular in the northern part of Italy. He excelled as a skier and won some championship competitions in the region. He took up tennis again when he turned 13 and has said his love for the sport made prevailed over skiing. The 18-year-old is 6ft 2-inches tall, which translates to around 188cm. He is multilingual and speaks three languages, Italian, German, and English. The young Italian turned pro in 2018.

Coach Piatti and how he started to play tennis

Ricardo Piatti is Jannik’s coach. He has worked with Novak Djokovic in the past. Jannik joined the Piatti Tennis Academy at a young age and has been training at the center ever since. His coach has praised his parents for allowing him to chase his dreams and not putting too much pressure on the 18-year-old. Piatti feels that Jannik has the potential to be the best player in the world and has been keenly following his progress. Jannik also works with Andrea Volpini. His first coach was Heribert Mayr.

Jannik’s girlfriend and love for football

Jannik is still attending high school and has not disclosed any romantic relationship to the media. He has quickly risen up the rankings since turning pro last year. The 18-year-old is currently 95th

on the rankings after beginning the year outside the top 100. Jannik and Berrettini are the latest young players from Italy who could go on to have successful careers. The 23-year-old will play in the ATP Finals in London for the first time in his career. He will be the first Italian to play at the tournament since 1978. Jannik will play at the Nitto Next Gen Finals in Milan. The 18-year-old is a football fan and has said that his favorite team in Italy is AC Milan. He hopes to do well at the tournament in his home country.

Ranked no.95, Jannik has a 39-19 win-loss record in 2019. The Italian is now competing in Milan where he beat Frances Tiafoe 3-44 4-2 4-2 4-2.

Sinner will take on Humbert in the Round Robin. They have never played each so far on the main tour.

Jannik clinched 2 titles in 2019 in the Bergamo Challenger and in the Lexington Challenger. The Italian was the finalist in the Ostrava Challenger.
