The match will take place in the O2 Arena in London. For the Serbian, he will be hoping to win this tournament to increase his chances of ending the tennis season as number one. At the moment, Djokovic has lost the number one position in the ATP rankings to Rafael Nadal. The Spaniard had withdrawn from the Paris Masters after sustaining an abdominal injury. However, he is still hopeful of getting fit just before the ATP Finals starts in London.

“Despite having a small strain, I will travel to London, Thursday, or Friday, I will start serving. The idea is to be able to play the #atpfinals in London,” he wrote on his twitter handle.

The Swiss international will also play the 2019 French Open finalist in the Bjorn Borg group. Dominic Thiem defeated Karen Khachanov during the China Open’s semifinals hence earning himself a spot in the ATP Finals in London. The H2H is 4-2 for Thiem, but 1-0 for Federer on Indoor Hard Courts (H2H details Federer vs Thiem).

The Austrian comes into this competition after struggling in the second half of this season. Despite the struggles, Thiem will be making his fourth consecutive appearance at the 2019 ATP Finals set for London. Apart from Roger Federer, he will play Matteo Berrettini and Novak Djokovic in the group stage matches.

“I would have never thought I could qualify a couple of months ago. I am just so happy to be among the Top 8 in London,” said the Italian upon qualifying for the 2019 ATP Finals in London. This will be Federer and Berrettini’s second meeting since 2019 Wimbledon, where the Swiss edged out the Italian in the round of 16.
