Jannik Sinner is about to start his run at the Next Gen in Milan. Even if the home favorite accessed the competition with a wildcard he is considered among the top favorites especially after the great tennis that he showed in Antwerp and Vienna after he defeated top players such as Gael Monfils, Frances Tiafoe, and Philip Kohlschreiber.

About being the youngest at the Next Gen Finals

Jannik will be the youngest player at the Next Gen Finals and he revealed that this is taking out some pressure from him. The Italian commented:

“I’m still the youngest here. Most of the time, the pressure is a bit lower because I’m playing against much older players. The pressure is going to be higher here, but that’s our job. You just have to try and do your best.

It’s exciting to be here. It’s a bit of a different format, different rules, so anything can happen. Sometimes the pressure of playing in Italy is not easy, but I think I can handle it.”

Talking about the new generation, Jannik added:

“I think the young generation is growing and that’s important for tennis. We have players who are very aggressive like Denis Shapovalov, but also players who are very solid. We have new players like Humbert, Ymer. I think it’s very interesting.”

The first match vs. Tiafoe

Jannik is in the B Group with Frances Tiafoe, Ugo Humbert, and Mikael Ymer. Sinner will face Tiafoe in his first match. The Italian has a positive record against the American after he beat him recently in Antwerp 6-4 3-6 6-3.
