Roger Federer has been replying to the same question for at least 10 years: when is he going to retire?.
At 38 years of age, the Swiss Maestro seems to be as fit as ever playing a truly magnificent tennis. Roger is currently ranked no.3, and he missed the opportunity to win his 21st slam by inches this summer when he had 2 consecutive championship points against an in-form Novak Djokovic.
Federer is currently competing in his hometown tournament in Basel, where he spent a couple of hours barely on court after demolishing his first 2 opponents, conceding only 6 games in total.
After his recent win against Radu Albot, a rather eerie statistic surface on social media. Counting also his performance at the Laver Cup, Roger has a 49-8 win-loss record in 2019 that is an 86% success rate while his overall record is 1233-268 (win-loss) during his career with an 82% success rate.
As per a tennis fan, it’s also interesting to notice that Roger’s overall record is dragged down by his results obtained before 2003 (when he started to peak). During the period, Federer had a 158-93 win-loss record. Furthermore, if you take out his “junior performance” (the one before 2003), Roger has still an 86% success rate in his career that is exactly the one he is having this year.
Impressing, to say the least.
