Grigor Dimitrov is finally finding his way back in Toronto!
The world no.5 has been struggling for some time to win 2 matches in a row even during the grass court seasons (1-2 win-loss). However, the Bulgarian sensation is now in the quarters in Toronto after winning 2 tough matches against Verdasco (2nd round) and Tiafoe (3rd round).
The battle against Tiafoe
Grigor had to dig deep against Frances as he had to battle from a break down in each set.
In the first set, Dimitrov was broken in the 5th game (2-3) to break back immediately (3-3) before winning the breaker at 1. (7-6).
Grigor had a horrible stint from the 4th game of the second set (2-2) when he lost 6 of the following 7 games to be 7-6 3-6 0-2 down. Once again, Dimitrov broke back in the 4th game (2-2) and everything went to the tiebreak when another “drama” unfolded. In fact, the Bulgarian conquered 5 consecutive points after being 2-4 down to win the match 7-6 (1) 3-6 7-6 (4) in 2 hours and 26 minutes.
Next vs. Anderson
