Klizan wins Kitzbuhel after coming straight from the qualifications

What a tournament for Martin Klizan.

The talented left-hander is currently ranked only no.111 in the world, but on a given day (or week) he can beat anyone. Martin had to dig extremely deep in Kitzbuhel to win the title coming straight from the qualifications and after beating the tournament favorite, Dominic Thiem, on the way.

Ironically, the easiest of his 7 matches was the final against Denis Istomin as Martin won 6-2 6-2 after just 68 minutes.

This was the best performance. KLIZAN

After the match, Martin commented

“I think my performance today was the best of the tournament. There was pressure for both of us. I did a great job today, and I deserved to win. I played a very solid game.”
