Sakkari reaches reach the final in San Jose after a great comeback

Greek tennis is getting to a whole new dimension!

On the ATP side, Stefanos Tsitsipas is progressing exceptionally well, and he seems to be destined to break in the top20 very soon. On the women’s side, Maria Sakkari, currently ranked no. 49, is in the final in San Jose.

The Greek achieved this feat by beating Danielle Collins following an incredible comeback after she was 3-6 1-4 down. The final score was 3-6 7-5 6-2.

I am Spartan!

After the match, Maria released an interesting comment about her comeback to say

“I think it’s part of my character and the way I grew up playing; I like drama. When things get tighter, I’m more used to it. It’s in my character, Spartan.”

Maria will now face Mihaela Buzarnescu in the final. They have never played each other so far.
