Federer uses his SABR to reach the Wimbledon 2nd week

Roger Federer has another fantastic performance in Wimbledon to reach the 4th round without dropping a set for the entire event.

The seed no.1 had absolutely no problems in beating the world no.64 Jan-Lennard Struff in straight set.

The match

Roger was in commanding control from the beginning to the end. The Swiss sensation had 14 break points in his favor (4 were converted) while he didn’t concede a single break point on his own serve.

Roger conquered the decisive break in the 6th game of the 1st set and in the 11th of the 2nd to grab a fast 6-3 7-5 lead. The 3rd set was even smoother for the world no.2 that broke the German twice before winning the all thing 6-3 7-5 6-2. Roger won 30 points more than his opponent (102 vs. 72).

THE SABR

Used his well known SABR (Sneak Attack By Roger) that is an extremely aggressive technique to attack the second serve that has as the main target to unsettle the server. Roger commented

“I’m happy I did it. I’m happy it worked [the SABR].

After that I feel like I got, how do you say, there is a buzz for me. ‘Okay, shall I do it again, no? What shall I do now this next time?’ I think it just helps me with keeping it exciting.

I already always have the option of slicing or coming over. Then with the SABR, I think it makes it more fun for me. That’s always the idea for me in practice or matches, keep it entertaining, keep things going. I always look for new ways to win the point.

I’m happy I found a way today. Some moments where it can be frustrating because you’re not finding any rhythm, at times you’re more reacting than playing active tennis. But it’s okay. I knew that going in. I’m just very pleased that I found a way in that first set, then also stayed calm in the second set.”

Next vs. Mannarino

Roger will face the world no.26 Adrian Mannarino in the 4th round. The head to head is 5-0 for Roger against the Frenchman.
