INCREDIBLE. Cilic upset by Pella in 5 sets

Marin Cilic was considered one of the biggest threats for Roger Federer at this Wimbledon. The world no.5 was last year’s runner-up, and he lost only in 5 sets to Roger in the last Melbourne final.

In the second round, Marin was opposed to the world no.85 Guido Pella that is definitely not a grass court player. After Marin won the first 2 sets 6-3 6-1, everything was pointing to an effortless win for the Croatian. However, after losing the 3rd set, Cilic was leading 3-1 in the 4th, but eventually, after a roller-coaster, he also dropped the 4th set. The 5th set was decided at the very last game (the 12th) when Marin lost his serve again. The final score was 3-6 1-6 6-4 7-6 (4) 7-5.

Cilic’s quarter has lost already Dimitrov and Wawrinka, and this is really good news for Roger Federer that is in the other quarter of the same half.
