Inspired Goerges upsets Radwanska at the 2012 Olympics

Gorgious Goerges is always a tricky and unpredictable opponent. There was not much to do for Agnieszka that had to face 20 aces (3 shy from Serena’s record) and a very inspired German (winning 19 of 24 points at the net).

“I didn’t really think about it as it’s my first time on the Centre Court, and you just go there and enjoy it,” Goerges said. “You just play there as you warmed up outside. The courts were different. But that’s, for both, the same.”

“I felt pretty great there,” Goerges added. “My game is to be aggressive, and I know that doesn’t suit her pretty well because she’s one who wants to create a little bit of angles to play clever on the court.”

This defeat is a big blow for Radwanska (that was also the Poland flag bearer). Time to focus on he doubles that she is going to play with her sister.

Goerges will play either Lephenko or Cepede Royg in the second round.

In the same day there was another “Sharapva’s annihilation. It took only 65 minutes for the Russian to defeat Peer. Maria will play either Safarova or Robson in the second round.

Another beauty queen, Daniela Hantuchova, recorded another upset as the Slovakian defeated Li Na  6-2, 3-6, 6-3. Daniela will face Cornet in the 2nd round. Head to head: 5-3 for Daniela that won the last 3 matches.
