Boris Becker and Roger Federer do not have the best relationship. The German has sometimes expressed not fantastic opinions on the Swiss Legend.
Once Boris said that Roger is not as nice as he seems, another time called Roger’s SABR disrespectful.
However, Boris has never doubted Roger’s class, and he was always ready to state that the Swiss is the greatest.
Why Boris defended Roger
During a recent interview, Becker defended Federer against Tiriac’s allegations that it is not correct for Roger to skip the entire court season.
Becker commented
“In principle, Tiriac is right when he says that players are not allowed to chose where to play and where to not. But Federer is in another league. He is the best ever. He is an unbelievable tennis player. He did all right, and now that he has chosen to skip the clay-court season should be understood.”
Nice comment from Boris, but it sounds strange saying that Roger can do whatever he wants because he is the best. Actually, Roger can choose which tournaments to play because the rules allow that.
