INCREDIBLE. Lucky Loser Cecchinato wins maiden title in Budapest

Weird stuff in Budapest as Marco Cecchinato wins his maiden ATP title after he lost in the qualifications.

The world no.92 had a rather disappointing start of the tournament after he didn’t even qualify for the main draw following his loss to the world no.133 Jurgen Zopp.

However, the Italian was admitted to the main draw taking advantage of a retirement, and he went on to conquer his first career title after defeating the world no.94 John Millman in the final 7-5 6-4.

“I lost Sunday, and now I won the tournament. It’s amazing for me. Maybe it’s a dream; I don’t know.”

A lucky but deserved title.
