Nadal concedes 4 games to Goffin to reach the Barcelona final

Another day, same script.

Rafael Nadal wears down another top player in Barcelona to reach the final after winning in straight sets and serving another bagel (6-0).

David Goffin started the semifinal in the best possible way after he conquered a 2-0 lead after neutralizing Rafa’s curling forehand with his double-handed backhand. However, the King of Clay managed to find his groove again, and he recovered the break (2-2) to engage in a fierce battle till the 8th game (4-4). In fact, after that,  Goffin couldn’t stand anymore Rafa’s rhythm, and the world no.1 won 8 consecutive games to win the match 6-4 6-0.

This is Rafa’s 44th consecutive set and his 400th win on clay.

Best match of the tournament. NADAL

A visibly happy Nadal commented

“I’m very happy. I played I think my best match of the tournament so far, no doubt about that. I have been playing well. I played a very solid match. That’s so important for me. I feel strong.”

The final vs. Tsitsipas

Rafa will face Stefanos Tsitsipas in the final. They have never played each other, but he is the clear favorite to win his 11th title.
