Nadal exterminates another player

Rafael Nadal is on another planet.

The King of Clay is playing at a stellar level in Monte Carlo to dismiss another player in style.

The world no.1 was opposed to the world no.38 Karen Khachanov in the Monte Carlo 3rd round, but the Spaniard was absolutely no match for the upcoming Russian.

The contest

Rafa made things clear from the very beginning after he raced to a fast 3-0 start in the opening set before winning 6-3. The world no.1 overwhelmed his opponent also in the second set after he grabbed an early break in the 1st game before winning the contest 6-3 6-2 in 79 minutes.

Rafa scored 56 points vs. Karen’s 35.

Soon after the match, Rafa commented

“It was a good victory – straight sets against a difficult opponent. I think I played a little bit better than yesterday. My serve worked well and my forehand was better than yesterday.”

Talking about the match between Thiem (his upcoming opponent) and Djokovic, Rafa commented

“The previous match had been a good match, an emotional one… It was a match between two great players. Anything could happen. Dominic won today. Well done for him.”

 

The quarters vs. Thiem

Rafa will face Dominic Thiem in the quarters. The head to head is 5-2 for Nadal. The Spaniard is playing much better than Dominic and he is therefore expected to reach the semifinal.
