Ostapenko reaches the final in Miami!

Jelena Ostapenko is 1 step away from winning another fantastic title!

The world no.5 surprised 1 year ago after she won the Roland Garros coming from nowhere, but she disappointed a bit at the beginning of this season following a grim 4-7 win-loss record before Miami.

Eventually, Jelena managed to turn the table once more to get to the final in Miami without dropping a single set on the way and after defeating top players such as Petra Kvitova and Elina Svitolina.

The semifinal

The most crucial moment of her semifinal against Danielle Collins was when the Latvian managed to break back the American after Ostapenko dropped her serve in the 11th game (from 5-6 to 6-6). Eventually, Ostapenko had a great tiebreak to concede only 1 point and win the opening set.

In the second set, Jelena broke her opponent in the very first game to then grab a robust 2-0 lead before winning the match 7-6 (1) 6-3.

The final vs.  Sloane Stephen

Jelena will face Sloane Stephens in the final.  Curiously, they have never played each other so far.
