Nick Kyrgios has completed a one-month suspension after testing positive for a cocaine metabolite during the ATP 250 Mallorca event in June 2026. The International Tennis Integrity Agency confirmed the violation was classified as social use and outside of competition. During interviews with investigators, Kyrgios admitted to using cocaine socially several days before the tournament began. “I made a mistake during a night out, but it was not related to competition,” he said. The ITIA accepted this account, confirming the violation was not in-competition.
Consequences
Despite the reduced sanction, Kyrgios forfeits all ranking points and prize money earned at the Mallorca event. He had been serving a provisional suspension since August 4 and is now cleared to return to competition on September 4.
The Australian, who reached a career-high ranking of No. 13 in 2016 and contested the Wimbledon final in 2022, has struggled with injuries in recent seasons. His comeback will be closely watched as he attempts to regain form after this latest setback.
