After a fantastic fortnight in Melbourne that ended with Federer winning his 20th slams there many interesting changes in the rankings.
Federer
Roger is still ranked no.2, but he is now extremely close to Rafael Nadal (155pts). This means that if he plays in Dubai, he has a clear shot at the top rank in the world and become the oldest world no.1 in history.
Cilic
Marin had a fantastic run at the Australian Open after he lost in the final to Federer. After this tournament, Cilic gets 1200pts that allow him to go 3 places up in the rankings and be the new world no.3.
Chung
Hyeon impressed the tennis world after reaching the semifinal in Melbourne following a couple of great wins against Sascha Zverev and Novak Djokovic. After this feat, the South Korean gains 29 places to be the new world 29. Career high and much more to come.
Edmund
The British no.2 has also impressed after reaching the semifinal after beating an in-form Grigor Dimitrov in the quarters. Kyle went up 23 places to be the new world no.26 (career high).
Shapovalov
Denis didn’t have a great run in Melbourne after he lost in the 2nd round against Jo-Wilfried Tsonga after a highly entertaining match. Denis is up 2 places to be the new world no.48 (career high).
