Djokovic demolishes Thiem in comeback match

Novak Djokovic is not done yet!

The former world no.1 played fantastic tennis against Dominic Thiem in an exhibition match at Kooyong to beat the Austrian 6-1 6-4.

Nole played with a long sleeve on his right arm to avoid any problem to his struggling elbow, but that didn’t prevent him from showing an amazing form.

This was the first time that Nole played a top10 player after he withdrew in the Wimbledon quarters against Berdych last year. The Serbian had to withdraw also from the Mubadala World Tennis Championships before also skipping the ATP250 in Doha.

It was a fantastic test for me. DJOKOVIC

Soon after the match, a visibly satisfied Djokovic commented

“It was a fantastic test for me to see where I am, to see what we have done as a team and whether it works on the court and it works pretty well.

Especially the serve. That was the biggest question mark because of the elbow, that shot in my game was compromised.

I don’t want to be over-confident, but I’m very, very happy with the way it went today.”

Now ranked world no.14, Djokovic will try to get back in the top10 starting from this Australian Open, an event that he has won already 6 times.
