Kyrgios wants more tournaments in Australia

Nick Kyrgios is expected to finally have a good season in 2018 after struggling during the last couple of years for many reasons. The Australian was never shy to disclose how difficult it is for him to stay away from his family for long periods, and now he proposes the idea of having more events in Australia (he might not be wrong with that).

Kyrgios’ idea

Nick is currently in Brisbane where he will play the ATP250 event. During the pre-tournament interview, he talked about his feelings about the tennis season and his personal idea about playing more in Australia

“I don’t know why we don’t [have more tournaments],” he commented. “I think people would be more than willing to come back here throughout the year.

For us in Australia; I was on the road for four months last year. That’s pretty tough when I want to spend time with my family.

We have three tournaments here, and you look at the guys from America and in Europe who have so many tournaments, and as Australians, I think we’re a bit disadvantaged being away for so long.”

That’s a point. The only problem is that on tour there are many more American and European players than Australians. Still, he has a point especially when he says that the other players may not mind it.

In the meantime, let’s see if Nick can have a good start of the season to win the Brisbane International. So far he has won “only” 3 titles, and he was empty-handed in 2017.

Time to go for more.
