Federer wins BBC Overseas Sports Personality award for record fourth time

It’s the end of the year, and it’s still time for Roger Federer to collect another award after a sensational season. The world no.2 was the oldest man to win Wimbledon in the open era when back in July (at 35 years of age) he defeated Cilic in the final. After this feat, Roger has also surpassed Pete Sampras as the men with most Wimbledon titles (8).

Roger has been won the BBC Overseas Sports Personality award for record fourth time after 2004, 2006, and 2007.

Federer’s comments

Roger commented

“It makes me incredibly proud that the UK public has chosen me as the BBC Overseas Sports Personality of the Year.

The support that the UK crowds give me whenever I’m here is amazing, and to be recognized on the shortlist alongside some of the greatest sportspeople of all time is extremely humbling.”

The ceremony will be held at the Echo Arena in Liverpool on Sunday.
