18-year-old Denis Shapovalov had a breakthrough season this year after he reached the semifinal in Montreal beating Del Potro and Nadal on the way. In addition, he got to the US Open 4th round coming straight from the qualifications after he won 2 prestigious challengers in Drummondville and Gatineau.

On Saturday in London, soon after the Federer-Goffin match, Denis received the Most Improved Player and the ATP Star of Tomorrow awards.

During the ceremony, Shapovalov commented

“This is incredible; first of all to be here and to win these awards. I have worked so hard this year, and I hope to be among the Top 8 one year. I will attempt to do everything I can to be here, it would be a dream come true. I definitely want to win an ATP World Tour title next year and finish in the Top 25, if everything goes well.”

Currently ranked no.51, Denis needs to have a solid season in 2018 to try to break in the top20. He has the tennis; he needs to execute!
