A relaxed outing after Queen’s final
Fresh from her runner-up finish at the HSBC Championships at Queen’s, Emma Raducanu was seen enjoying time away from tennis with her new boyfriend, PR expert John Friend. The pair were spotted in Battersea Park, walking a dog together before sitting on a bench, chatting, laughing, holding hands, and sharing a kiss.
A successful week on court
Raducanu, 23, reached her first grass-court final by winning two matches in one day, only to fall short against Croatia’s Donna Vekic in Sunday’s final, 6-0 7-6(6). Despite the defeat, the British No.1 showed strong form ahead of Wimbledon, where she is scheduled to compete later this month.
Public appearance with Friend
A reporter from The Scottish Sun described the couple’s demeanor: “Emma and her man looked like they didn’t have a care in the world as they meandered through the crowds. They looked besotted with one another. You wouldn’t have thought that, hours earlier, she’d suffered a defeat on the court.” The sighting marks Raducanu’s second publicly known relationship, following her previous romance with Carlo Agostinelli.
Past relationships and privacy
Raducanu’s relationship with Agostinelli, son of American billionaire Roberto Agostinelli, began in May 2023 but ended in June 2024. She later removed their photos from social media. Friend, 32, is the second man she has been linked with publicly, though details of how they met or when they started dating remain unclear.
Looking ahead to Wimbledon
After withdrawing from the Lexus Nottingham Open to recover from her demanding run at Queen’s, Raducanu’s focus now shifts to Wimbledon, running from June 29 to July 12. Her strong grass-court showing suggests she could be a contender on home soil.
