ATP RANKINGS. Nadal projected to end the year as world no.1

Weird stuff in the ATP rankings.

Even if Roger Federer has won the ATP500 in Basel and Rafael Nadal decided not to play, after this week the Mallorcan is almost sure of ending the season as the deserving world no.1.

What happened?

Soon after winning the title in Basel, Roger Federer announced his withdrawal from the Bercy. This means that even if Roger has reduced his deficit to 1460 points, he will not reach Rafa if the Mallorcan wins 1 match before the end of the season, and the Spaniard has at least 4 matches to play (1 in Paris and the 3 in the London Round Robin).

The other players

After last week, Zverev overtakes Cilic to become the new world no.1 and he has great chances to become the new world no.3 after Paris as Murray (currently ranked no.3) will not defend his title.

Among the other winners, rising star Tsitsipas is at a career high (no.89) after he reached the final at the Challenger in Brent.

Here the top30.
