Pouille wins the title in Vienna

Lucas Pouille wins the title in Vienna after a fantastic run.

The world no.25 dropped just 1 set during the entire week before winning the first ATP500 of his career.

The Frenchman defeated his compatriot Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in the final after he conceded just 5 games to his friend. Lucas won the contest 6-1 6-4 after only 71 minutes.

I played some great tennis. POUILLE

Lucas was visibly emotional after winning this title to comment

“I’m very happy with how the week ended. All the work I’ve done has paid off… It’s my first ATP World Tour 500 title. I played some great tennis, and I was a bit emotional at the end. It’s always great to finish the week with a victory.

Jo has been playing for two weeks now, and I knew he’d be a little tired. I had to be focused on every point. He made a few mistakes with the forehand, and I found a way to win the match.”

This is Pouille’s 4th career title, the 3rd of this season after Stuttgart and Budapest. Lucas was also the runner-up in Marseille where he lost to Tsonga. He got his revenge in Austria.

WHAT A GREAT WEEK!
